В нашем сервисе используется автоматическая система определения приоритета трафика. Все массовые рассылки отправляются с меньшим приоритетом, чем одиночные SMS-сообщения. Благодаря такому разделению критичные одиночные сообщения отправляются без задержек, не дожидаясь завершения отправки массовых рассылок каких-либо клиентов. При этом массовые рассылки тоже отправляются достаточно быстро, так как мы стараемся держать каналы не полностью загруженными и при увеличении загрузки каналов запрашиваем новые подключения у операторов.

One problem of SMS messaging is that SMSCs developed by different companies use their own communication protocol and most of these protocols are proprietary. For example, Nokia has an SMSC protocol called CIMD whereas another SMSC vendor, CMG, has an SMSC protocol called EMI. We cannot connect two SMSCs if they do not support a common SMSC protocol. To deal with this problem, an SMS gateway is placed between two SMSCs. This is illustrated in the following figure. The SMS gateway acts as a relay between the two SMSCs. It translates one SMSC protocol to another one. This way can be used by two different wireless carriers to interconnect their SMSCs for purposes such as enabling the exchange of inter-operator SMS messages.
Besides wireless carriers, content providers and SMS application developers may also find an SMS gateway useful. Let's consider the following situation. Suppose you are the developer of an SMS text messaging application. To send and receive SMS text messages on your server, one way is to connect to the SMSCs of the wireless carriers. Different wireless carriers may use SMSCs from different vendors, which means your SMS text messaging application may need to support multiple SMSC-specific protocols. (This is illustrated in the following figure). As a result, the SMS text messaging application's complexity and development time increases.
To deal with the above problem, an SMS gateway can be set up to handle the connections to the SMSCs. Now the SMS text messaging application only needs to know how to connect to the SMS gateway. To support more SMSCs, you just need to modify the settings of the SMS gateway. No change to the source code of the SMS text messaging application is required. The use of an SMS gateway can greatly shorten the SMS text messaging application's development time.

Technical Information:It is possible to send voice or text-to-speech message, that would ask the recipient to make a choice by pressing a number on the dial.
For instance, a dentist would like to send a message - appointment reminder.
"Hello, this is dentist Adam Smith. Press 1 to confirm your appointment tomorrow at 9am,
or press 2 to cancel the appointment.
Press 9 to repeat this message."
Or a car serviceman wants to ask if his customers are happy:
"Hello, this is your Citroen Service in Cleveland.
You visited us last week. We would like to know if were happy with the service we provided.
Press 1 if you were happy, or press 2 if you were not.
Press 9 to repeat this message."
The recipient would listen to the message, and then press 1, or 2, or 9.
The number pressed, will later show up in the message status, so it will be easy for the sender to see recipient's response.
If 'response ' field is set to 1, the system will deliver voice or TTS message, and it will wait and capture recipient's response.
If 'response ' field is not set, no response will be expected nor captured.
'9' is always reserved for the 'repeat this message', so do not use it for other purposes.
When sender checks the status of the message in the 'History', the status of the message will include the information what key (digit) was pressed by the recipient.
Example of the message status:
"Voice call answered, duration 18 seconds. R = 1"
It means that recipient pressed '1' in a response to the message (e.g. appointment was confirmed).

Landline phone to SMS gateways
Services are available to allow cellphone users to send SMS messages to some landline phone numbers just as they would to other cellphones. With a representative service, after the customer has sent off the SMS message to the landline number, the recipient's phone rings with the caller ID of the sender's cellphone. When they pick up, an automated voice reads the text message and allows for a response via a voicemail or via one of a few canned text messages.
Several operators have true fixed-wire SMS services. These are based on extensions to the ETSI GSM SMS standards and allow fixed-fixed, fixed-mobile and mobile-fixed messaging.
